It was a 4-day-long weekend and we planned on going to San Vicente, Palawan to check out the long beach BUT we were told we were going island hopping that Saturday, and we never say no to that.
It turned out to be a very beautiful sunny day!
The sea was calm and I took photos of Pinagbuyutan Island (also known as Ellis Island, above) and Miniloc Island (below) as we were passing by.
We were on The Geographic, the yellow boat that everyone else in town calls the banana boat, with our favorite boatman ever, Kuya Mesach.
On the boat was the usual gang composed of Lovely, Megan, Rej, Lia and Tutu. With us were also Janice and Lors who were coming with us for the very first time. Little did they know they were in for an entertaining afternoon!
It was Megan’s first island hopping trip as she had just arrived in El Nido two weeks or so before, and it’s always that way – the first timers always choose to sit on the bow! We let her have at it. It was so sunny a burn was a hundred percent guaranteed. We insisted she put on LOTS of sunblock.
But she had fun doing sightings…
And this was the sight that greeted us as we approached Entalula Island.
Now, Entalula Island is really a private island. Only guests of El Nido Resorts: Lagen and Miniloc islands, have full access to its beach. They used to not allow boats from town to be on the beach at all, but now, they grant access to a pocket of beach on one side. It is still guarded by a resort staff in a hut though, wary of non-resort guests passing through.
I used to say Entalula Island is my favorite island in the whole of Bacuit Bay but now I can’t really say. There are just too many beaches! But I can still say that the sand on that beach is the best there is. It’s even nicer than Boracay’s.
The view is also beautiful, with or without clouds.
We took a lot of photos of ourselves!
My daughter Lia was having soooo much fun that saying “soooo” would be an understatement.
She was running here and there, swimming with our friends, and swimming by herself. I had to be extra vigilant in applying sunblock on her skin and since she would not get out of the water anyway, vigilant as well in looking for what little shady areas there were on the beach.
She found a stick to play with and she was running up and down the beach with it. Someone who was passing by accidentally stepped on it and I happened to have caught her expression on camera. Lia is just too funny.
And on those photos, I finally captured the sand – white and super duper fine.
The sand I had loved running my fingers through back in 2006. I remember the sun was blindingly hot then too and the waters nary a ripple. The photos below were taken on March 4, 2006 using a Canon IXY Digital 30a.
We left shortly after lunch and spent the afternoon in Simizu Island. Will post on that next.
